Many of the horses that are offered for sale in this year’s Buckeye Bonanza were born and raised at The Ohio State University Equine Facilities. Since birth they have been handled by students in multiple classes who introduced them to a variety of novel objects and situations (i.e. ground poles, tarps, spray bottles, trailer loading, ground driving). Students in the Advanced Equine Behavior and Training class started these horses under saddle in early September under the guidance and instruction of industry professionals. Although they have been ridden in a variety of environments on the farm, they have limited experience loping/cantering under saddle and are suitable for an intermediate to experienced rider at this time.
